Rolling With the Pope
In video games, you can trust no one. Everyone is in on it, everyone but you. In video games nothing is real. Or, if it is, we're pretty sure you're seeing it via the visions of a comatose police officer, through the projection of genetic memories hurtled into your brain through time at tremendous speed, or in the dreams of a sleeping cartoon dog. With special guest Sean Vanaman.
Games Discussed: Assassin's Creed 2, Prince of Persia: Forgotten Sands, Portal 2, Snoopy's Flying Ace, Driver San Francisco, Alpha Protocol, Crackdown 2

This announcement may have been overshadowed by other events on the latest podcast, but we'll be joined by Max Schaefer on this week's episode. Max is the co-founder of Runic Games, whose excellent action RPG Torchlight comes out this week. He was previously a co-founder of Flagship Studios, which developed the ill-fated Hellgate: London as well as the ARPG Mythos -- and much of the latter game's team ended up rejoining at Runic to work on Torchlight.

Of course, he was also one of three founders of Condor, the Northern California studio that became Blizzard North and produced Diablo and Diablo II. Max contributed art and design to the first game and served in various lead roles on the second.

So, if you have any questions about Torchlight or other aspects of Mr. Schaefer's career, send them in to questions@idlethumbs.net, by the end of the work day on Monday, and if we get any good ones we'll ask him. Thanks!
